Our story begins way back in 1884 when a 22-year old, adventurous young man, my grandfather, Currimjee Jeewanjee, set foot on the shores of Port Louis from Gujarat, India. He started a little business in Louis Pasteur Street, trading in commodities. He had a clear vision of where he wanted to go and being determined, he persevered. And he had strong values.
Indeed, the foundation of our Group is based on these two fundamental pillars which are values and governance based on unity. We are proud to have grown together as a united family and a united business over the years.
Over the last 125 years, as Mauritius progressed, so did we. From our origins in 1890, trading in commodities, we have grown over the years to become an integral part of the day to day lives of each and every Mauritian household through Commerce, Telephony, IT, Pay TV, Manufacturing, Soap, Soft drinks, Water, Margarine, Insurance, Energy, Tourism, Real Estate …
Our ambition is now to continue to build an even better future together with our 2400 employees within the Group. A sustainable business based on a clear vision, strong values and governance.
This is what the Currimjee Group has been about over the last 125 years and what we must ensure is what we leave to the future Mauritian generations.
