- Pulse of Fintech - Building the Future of Financial Services Together
In an open banking ecosystem, the real question is not who owns the customer. It’s who creates the most value for them.
This was one of the key takeaways from the second edition of Pulse of Fintech, organised by Equitable Ventures, where founders, investors, regulators and corporate leaders came together to explore the future of financial services.
As financial services become increasingly embedded in our everyday digital lives, success is no longer defined by ownership of the customer relationship. Instead, it is driven by the ability to deliver seamless, relevant and trusted experiences.
This perspective was echoed by Atul Bhatia, Chief FinTech Officer at Emtel, who highlighted: “The next chapter of fintech will be driven by collaboration, innovation and the ability to create meaningful connections across the ecosystem.”
Customers do not think in terms of banking, payments, telecoms or commerce. They simply expect everything to work together effortlessly.
From Open Banking and BaaS to AI-powered services, the future is about creating seamless, connected and trusted experiences.
As Atul also noted, payment service providers are evolving beyond transactions to become part of consumers’ everyday digital lifestyles - connecting payments, merchants, telecom services and rewards within a single experience.
For Mauritius, this presents an exciting opportunity to build a more connected and inclusive digital economy.
The conversations at Pulse of Fintech reinforced a powerful reality: the future of fintech will not be shaped by individual players alone, but by the strength of the ecosystem we build together.
