EMTEL signed an agreement with the ICTA to bring satellite-based internet connectivity to Raphael Island, extending reliable communications services to one of the most remote territories of the Republic of Mauritius.

The agreement marks a first for St. Brandon and reinforces the role of connectivity as critical national infrastructure. Over the next two years, the project will provide critical connectivity that will support maritime surveillance, meteorological monitoring, operational communications and the resident community on the island.

As Marcelo Aleman, CEO of Emtel pointed, "We are focused on being the trusted digital backbone of Mauritius, connecting people and extending connectivity to every Outer Island that forms part of its territory."

This achievement is the result of strong collaboration between the ICTA, the National Coast Guard, the Mauritius Meteorological Services, The Raphael Fishing Company and Emtel, demonstrating what can be achieved when public and private sector partners work towards a common goal.

A proud moment for Mauritius, and another step forward in strengthening connectivity where it matters most.
