At Currimjee, we believe in contributing meaningfully to a more sustainable Mauritius.

Launched in 2015, the project reflects our long-term commitment to environmental preservation, made possible through the combined efforts of our dedicated team and our valued partner, the NGO, Friends of the Environment.

To date, over 12,000 endemic plants have been planted on site, with a remarkable 80% survival rate despite challenging conditions – a testament to the resilience of nature and the dedication of our volunteers. Month after month, our volunteers joined hands with the NGO to clear, weed, and plant – breathing new life into this once-degraded area.

On July 5, 2025, the project reached a new milestone as 100 students from the University of Mauritius (UOM) came together to plant 400 endemic plants. Their energy and commitment brought a renewed sense of purpose to the initiative, reminding us that meaningful change comes through shared responsibility and collective action.

We were especially pleased and honoured to welcome Ms. Katie Lalor, former Australian High Commissioner to Mauritius and currently Chargée d'affaires at the Australian Embassy, who joined us for the event.

With only 1.5% of our natural forest remaining, every reforestation effort counts. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the UOM students for standing with us in this important cause.

Together, let’s continue nurturing biodiversity and restoring our natural heritage – one plant at a time.
