  • From preservation to restoration: building a greener future for Mauritius.
Posted on 06 Aug 2026 From preservation to restoration: building a greener future for Mauritius.
When it comes to environmental stewardship, protecting nature is no longer enough. The real challenge is restoring it.

Through a three-year partnership between the Currimjee Foundation, Emtel, Nater and the Forestry Services, we're helping restore 1,250 m² of forest near Mare aux Vacoas - strengthening one of Mauritius' most important forest and watershed ecosystems.

Last June, to mark World Environment Day, volunteers from across the Group joined the restoration effort, contributing directly to the reintroduction of native species and the regeneration of this unique landscape.

Because every tree planted helps protect our water resources, strengthen climate resilience, enhance carbon sequestration and safeguard the biodiversity that makes Mauritius so unique.

Over the next three years, this commitment will continue through ongoing field participation, maintenance activities and awareness programmes.

Because sustainability isn't measured by the promises we make - it's measured by the actions we take.
